Our vision

Inaura's long term mission is to support education communities to include all the children in those communities in appropriate education, to develop and promote capacity and standards in alternative provision, and to develop and promote resources for educating children, professionals and families in relationship skills.

Inaura's charitable objectives are:

  • To safeguard and protect the good health, both psychological and physical, of young persons, by offering therapeutic emotional educational counselling support;
  • To educate the public with particular reference to the emotional, physical and sexual relationships of young persons who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress and with a view to developing personal responsibilities and enriching personal and family life;
  • To advance the education of young people up to the age of 18. In particular, the charity concentrates on providing for the educational and pastoral needs of young people who may have been excluded from conventional classroom education.
  • The provision of social care for young people in need.

The Inaura school motto is ‘Consistently Kind’.   All of the children attending Inaura School have Education, Health & Care Plans or Statements of Special Educational Needs, often accompanied by significant learning difficulties and attachment problems. The school’s well-articulated non-coercive relational approach enables it to avoid the difficulties which schools providing more coercive behavioural approaches encounter with children with reactive attachment disorders.

Students discover new opportunities to reconnect with learning, through mutual respect and co-operation and a more positive outlook on life, people and schooling.  Children do not come to Inaura School because they cannot learn but so that they can.

Staff believe students can learn if they are helped to sort out their problems and build good relationships with young people and their families and carers.

The school ethos is based on equality, openness, and honesty. Its highest priority is to keep its students safe, health, and happy. Staff do not force children to do things they do not want to do and  give students hope that there is a place for them in the world.

Inaura is currently in the second year of a 5 year strategy (2013-2018), with the aims of:

  • Growing and expanding Inaura School in size and reputation.
  • Continuing to develop our inhouse web based student management system, Inaura SMS to enable this to become a system that thw wider education community can use.
  • Establishing Inaura schools in different areas of the country.

We are currently making encouraging progress towards the achievement of these objectives.
